{"id":261,"date":"2014-06-18T22:57:15","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T22:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/?p=261"},"modified":"2020-06-11T19:06:19","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T19:06:19","slug":"falafel-burgers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/falafel-burgers\/","title":{"rendered":"Falafels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once you have made these you will not go back to the dried out box variety and your Middle Eastern restaurant may see a drop in business.\u00a0 I could even eat them for breakfast.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Burgers<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cup dried chickpeas<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 cups onions, chopped finely<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 cloves garlic, crushed<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup chopped fresh parsley<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro or vietnamese coriander<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teas baking powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teas ground coriander<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teas cumin<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">pinch cayene<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 teas salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 teas pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup flour or chickpea flour<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Oil for baking pan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ingredient\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"ingredient\"><div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Sauce<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cup tahini<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup lemon juice<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 clove garlic, crushed<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3\/4 teas salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cup water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ingredient\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Fixins<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">sliced cucumber, onion, tomato, shredded carrot, sweet bread &amp; butter pickles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a medium glass bowl add the chickpeas and cover with cold water and soak for 8 hours or overnight at room temperature. (If your kitchen is warm place the bowl in the fridge to avoid fermentation)\u00a0 Drain and add to food processor.\u00a0 Pulse the chickpeas until they form a chunky paste that sticks together.\u00a0 Do not over process the chickpeas.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onions, garlic, parsley, cilantro, baking powder, coriander, cumin, cayene, salt &amp; pepper and flour.\u00a0 Pulse until the batter is still grainy and speckled with the herbs.\u00a0 Chill at least 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>While you are waiting make the Tahini Sauce.\u00a0 Add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, salt and water to the food processor and blend until smooth.\u00a0 If sauce is too thick it can be thinned with additional lemon juice and water.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350F<\/li>\n<li>Generously oil a rimmed baking sheet with olive oil.\u00a0Remove batter from fridge and shape into patties about 1\/4 cup each.
