{"id":563,"date":"2015-02-15T18:29:35","date_gmt":"2015-02-15T18:29:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/?p=563"},"modified":"2015-02-16T22:01:29","modified_gmt":"2015-02-16T22:01:29","slug":"chai-tea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/chai-tea\/","title":{"rendered":"Chai Tea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We discovered chai tea on a trip to Vancouver at a coffee shop called Blendz.\u00a0 We became addicted and sought out chai tea back home at Starbucks.\u00a0 After spending hundred of dollars on store bought chai tea I found a recipe to make it from scratch.\u00a0 The recipe only made a couple of cups of tea and it seemed if I was going to make it I would have to make a much larger batch.\u00a0 I have girlfriends who love this tea so when I make it I need more than a couple of cups.\u00a0 I came up with the following recipe which will make about 4 liters.\u00a0 You can adjust the spices to come up with a taste that you like and also use green tea loose or in bags.\u00a0 It is shockingly simple to make and makes everyday a chai tea day.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode-ingredients\"><h3>Ingredients<\/h3><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">16 cardamom pods, cracked<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 tbls fresh ginger, grated<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cinnamon stick, 2 inches long<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">16 whole cloves<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">12 whole black peppercorns<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">16 cups cold water<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">12 tea bags, decaffeinated or caffeinated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"shortcode-directions instructions\"><h3>Directions<\/h3><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place cardamon, ginger, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns and water in a large pot.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and let steep 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Bring the pot to a rolling boil.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off burner and add tea bags and steep for 15 minutes or to desired strength.<\/li>\n<li>Strain and press the tea bags and spices to release all their flavour into another pot.<\/li>\n<li>At this point you can reheat as much as you want to drink right away and put the rest into juice containers and either freeze or keep in the fridge, reheating to enjoy with milk and sugar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We discovered chai tea on a trip to Vancouver at a coffee shop called Blendz.\u00a0 We became addicted and sought out chai tea back home at Starbucks.\u00a0 After spending hundred of dollars on store bought [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[251,215],"tags":[264,252],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/563"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=563"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/563\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=563"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=563"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ravenview.com\/recipes\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=563"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
