Snickerdoodles
We have been making these cookies for more than 25 years. They are quick and easy using common pantry ingredients and the recipe makes a lot of cookies…..about 6 dozen. The cookie has a unique crackled appearance. I’ll bet you can’t eat just one.
Cookie
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teas vanilla
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teas cream of tartar
- 1 teas baking soda
- 3/4 teas salt
Cookie Coating
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teas cinnamon
Directions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer add the butter, shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla and mix until light and creamy.
- Combine the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to creamed mixture and mix until combined.
- Shape into 1″ balls.
- Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll the balls to coat.
- Place on an ungreased cookie sheet leaving room for the cookies to spread. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
