We are quite happy that we gave new life to this old favourite. This wooden garden bench with cast iron sides has been with us for about twenty-five years and we finally got around to replacing the old rotting wood slats and replace them with new Red Oak ones. And with a splash of paint on the sides it never looked so good!
It was a great project and came out looking better than expected. In fact, it looked so nice when completed it was decided that it should reside on the garden patio instead of in the woods up on the hill as originally planned. 🙂
BTW, there’s a photo of the bench taken in 2003 up on the hill in the woods just after Hurricane Juan dropped a tree on it. Surprisingly, it didn’t hurt it at all! You can see it here in The Lingering Effects Of Hurricane Juan post.
