Wow! Making and painting these colourful wooden vehicles was a real treat. Who would have thought one could have so much fun?! We made these as a Christmas gift for our granddaughter and if she has half as much fun playing with them as we did making them she’ll have a ball!
Each one is different with several styles of cars and trucks. And look at those colours, aren’t they great! There’s a red one, a blue one, an orange one, a pink one, a green one and a yellow one. They’re so bright and colourful, especially with the black wheels and contrasting hubs.
They’re roughly 4” long, 1 3/4” wide and a maximum of 2” high and made of local Birch hardwood. The process to make them was rather simple. After the patterns were made it was really just a matter of tracing the pattern on the piece of Birch lumber, cutting out the shapes, drilling the holes for the axles and then doing a bit of sanding and painting. Using ready made hardwood wheels and axles made it super easy!

We had a lot of fun making these little wooden vehicles and can definitely see us making more of them in the future! Vroom, vroom!
