A Large Maple Bowl With Rings

Here’s a large Maple bowl that we turned over the summer. It is just over 13 1/4″ in diameter and almost 5″ tall, making it the largest bowl that we turned so far. It features three rings around the outside rim.

It is finished with the bee’s wax and mineral oil mixture and then buffed.

    This piece was just over 16″ in diameter so I had to start it off the bed. You can see in the photo that the edge was quite thin so by the time this was turned to a usable thickness the diameter was down to roughly the size of the finished piece. So yes, it’s a good size piece of wood, especially when it’s spinning! 🙂
