We’re calling this new piece Malatah. Like a previous piece we did that is called called Ar-dor, this piece was also inspired by a trip we did to the American state of Utah a couple of years ago. We were awed by the beauty of the reds, the rusts and the browns of the sandstone, the rock spires and, of course, the arches. Truly a wonderful place, one that we hope to return to someday. The wood is Cherry burl with a Maple base, both harvested here in Nova Scotia. The bowl is 22cm (8.5″) in diameter and 7cm (3″) tall. The overall height of the piece is 20cm (8″). The bowl also features inlayed Malachite from Utah.
