Rogart Mountain Trail

We had a wonderful hike today on the Rogart Mountain Trail. The air was crisp, the sky was blue and the snow was about three feet deep, perfect for snowshoeing!

The Rogart Mountain Trail is a 6.2 km. loop located in Earltown, Nova Scotia. The trail begins at Sugar Moon Farm and treks upward to its 1130 foot summit through a forest of White Spruce, Sugar Maple, Yellow Birch and dwarfed, gnarly Beech. Although there are several brooks and a waterfall on the trail there were no sign of them. With the winter we are having this year, they are well buried under the snow.

Mother Nature was having a great time today, showing off all her splendor. The white snow was laden on the dark green branches of the Spruce trees and with the background of the deep blue cloudless sky it made for an awesome, indeed, awesome picture.

With taking the time to stop and read the 17 interpretive stops, enjoy the vistas and views and take photos the hike took us just under three hours or as we prefer to say, enough time to build up an appetite! We did say the trail head was at Sugar Moon Farm and no trip to this area should be without dropping by for their all-you-can-eat pancakes and maple syrup!

This was an awesome day! A great day to be outside enjoying Mother Nature!

We can’t wait to visit this trail sometime in the Summer or Fall too so that we can see the waterfall!
