Birch Bowl Green

Here’s another small Birch Bowl, this one in a light shade of green.

It is approximately 20cm (8″) in diameter and 9cm (3.5″) tall and features three bands near the rim.

The wood for this bowl, and the others in this recent, painted series, came from the Hants County area of Nova Scotia, an area noted for it’s strong timber used for shipbuilding in days gone by. This area is also notable as the birth place of Thomas Chandler Haliburton, author of the satirical Sam Slick stories which popularized such sayings as ‘quick as a wink’, it’s raining cats and dogs’, ‘the early bird gets the worm’ and many more.
