The Railroad Anvil

A railroad anvil, yes, it’s a tool! And a great one too! 🙂

For this week’s “Handtool Thursday” we’re presenting what was once a piece of train track rail.

D’s Dad, who worked for the Canadian National Railway, took this piece of train track rail and cut it into an anvil shape. When it was not being used as such it was stored on the basement floor, near the door, where it made a great stop (by laying it on it’s side and fitting the door between both sides of the anvil the door stays put with no swinging!).

It now resides here in the shop and is still used for same. However, now with the remembrance of the maker whenever it is used…

Thanks, Dad!
