Woodworking Tips And Tidbits – 05-25-12

Once again we have collected some woodworking tips and tidbits! This time we have tips on cutting large sheets of plywood, covering up scratches and a cool way of pounding in nails that will make your fingers happy!

1. To crosscut large sheets of plywood on the tablesaw clamp a board under the plywood and use it as an auxiliary fence which rides against the left edge of the tablesaw’s top.

2. As a rule of thumb, the denser the wood, the more it moves.

3. Rub a shelled walnut over scratches on wood to cover them up.

4. Use a comb to hold small nails when hammering them.

5. When drilling in drywall use a folded sticky note stuck below the hole to be drilled to catch the drywall dust.

These are a few woodworking tips and tidbits that we picked up (and/or wrote down) over the past week. They come from a variety of sources including magazines, newsletters, online and personal experience.
